Looking at a 79 Z28 that an acquaintance of mine has and was wondering what you guys thought it might be worth.

I was able to test drive it and it seems like most of the "problems" are minor annoyances.

needs both new doors. the power window motor on drivers side is bad and neither door opens or closes properly. plus they are both missing their locks.

its an automatic and the shifter is "broken" cause it is missing half of the **** and you have to put your finger in the top hole to depress the button to shift.

it doesn't really like to go into park.

the interior will need to be completely replaced

needs new paint but no major rust

the tires are in great condition

the engine "sounds" and runs good, but i only took it around the block

the first time around i got it up to about 85 with no problem, the second time though it seemed to not want to shift into the last gear at around 60. the rpms would go up but it wouldn't shift

i can see nothing leaking

he is asking 2500, but i think this is too much. what do you guys think ?

 

I'd say buy it. $2500 isn't too bad, that's what most people are asking for a 2nd gen in similar condition.

Minor annoyances? Wonder what major problems are? I wouldn't touch it for that price. I agree with Pete; I'd save and spend a little more to get a better car. Or get that one for about half that price. I wouldn't give more than $1200 for it.

 

by "minor annoyances" i mean stuff that wouldn't have to be fixed immediately and could wait until any major problems that are found are fixed.

Buy Pete's car. I've seen it, and overall, it's a pretty nice one.

 

Yeah that cars not worth more then $1500 tops. I would save a little more and get something in better shape.
