Default Shorten Steering Column?

It not in a Camaro but a c10 is about the same thing.
Anyone every heard of shortening a steering column?

I love C10's but have always hated how far the steering wheel was from the dash. Im average height, but tall enough to feel cramp. I think I would be so much more comfortable if I could move the steering wheel a few inches closer to the dash.

Any ideas?
Any articles?
Any stories?

I would look into getting a tilt/telescopic steering column out of a C3 Vette.
My 69 Vette has one, as did all my previous ones. It's the cats azz!!!

Anything is possible, but I agree with Camaro69, I'd go to a tilt wheel.

I planned on getting a tilt wheel. But a stock tilt wheel is still about a foot away from the dash and would need shortened. I like the angle, the wheel is just way to close.

I will look into the vette one.
What about a same year van. I heard they were shorter.

What about a smaller wheel? I put one in my 85 SWB and it was perfect. At 6' 4" not alot of vehicles are as comfy as my old pickup was.

I am going to add a smaller wheel.
I fit fine. I am only 5'10" and 150lb. I just don't like it that close.
I want the wheel placement more like it is in my Camaro.
I like the wheel to sit right at my wrist. As it is it is closer to my elbow. not really but you get the idea.

I found a guy that says he will rebuild a tilt wheel and can shorten it 2". Says it will bolt right in. $375. Found him after starting this post.
