Default Shifter issue

Can anyone give me some advice? I have a 4 speeds shifter I just took off my car that is stuck. No, it is not attached to my transmission. I've soaked it in carb cleaner, hoping it was a gunk issue, but no progress. I'm just trying not to buy a new shifter, since it is right after Christmas and I am low on funds.

Thanks,
Jon

post a pic of the guts. Something must be bent or broken.

Could be the bushings are so worn it's hung up between gears. SHould be able to align the arms and get a neutral position to put the alignment pin in. Then check play in all the rods and arms to see where the issues are.

Was taking pictures of the shifter when I noticed the flat part of the shifter stick was in the way of the 3rd-4th shifter lever. I'm not sure what happened, but I had to pull up like I was putting it in reverse, then had to realign everything. Almost like a dislocated finger.

Thanks for the responses, too.
