shift kit

Default shift kit

my car. has a very steep shift kit in it. its built for the track. is it very hard to do a shift kit. i dont know alot about automatic transmissions. how hard is it to change the shift kit for a more street set up car????

I don't think its that hard to change back to a milder shift kit. Drop the tranny pan and change a few things out, then button it back up and fill the tranny again. (Get a new gasket for the pan.)

I suppose it has a big stall converter in it too? If so,you will need more work to fix.

If you have a high stall converter in it, you'll HAVE to drop the tranny to change it out.
The stall converter, depending on which one it is, will get up to a certain RPM before it locks up. (It will still move the car at lower RPM.)
This usually has the car shifting 'softer', and adding a shift kit in makes it shift harder.

So depending on what you want it to shift like, I guess its your call......

changing a shift kit is very easy, can be done in a couple hours
