Default In Search of My Old 1979 Z28

I am looking for my old '79 Z28. I bought the car new in April 1979, then sold it in the summer of 1981 to a guy in the Farmington Hills, MI area. I think his name was John Taylor, but it has been some time.

The last I heard, the car was still owned by the guy I sold it to. On the off chance that I can find the owner and/or car, I would love to be able to connect with it (the car) again.

Here are some pictures of the car when I owned it. I installed the 1980 Air Induction hood and side vents, along with the rear wheel flares. It was a sweet car, and I regret having to sell it even now.

Anyone know of this car??? If so, send me a private message, or an e-mail. Thanks!

Bill Taylor

If you have a license plate number or vin number, check with your local department of motor vehicles. For a fee, you can get the owners info.

I'm sorry I can't help you out. I can understand why you want to find your old Z. She looks awsome in those pics. You did, however, rekindal my desire to find my Z's next to last owner. The alcoholic I saved my Z from gave me a stack of reciepts from the guy he bought the car from. I have a name address and phone# on the guy, but, they're nearly 10 years out of date. Do you think I should try to find this guy? would you want to here from some stranger who had your car 9 years after you sold it?

I found it! Took a little detective work, but discovered that the car is now about 50 miles away. Talked to the owner's wife--she said it is covered up and sitting in their barn. Has been for at least 12 years. I sold the car in 1981 with 21,000 miles on it. I now has 24,000 miles.

I am trying to set up a time to see it. I am very excited to get a chance to see it after all these years. I'll post pictures of it. Wish me luck!

If the price is right, I'd like to buy it back. How often do you get a chance to repurchase a memory? At my age, I need all I can get!

Trust me, that is a '79. I added the '80 Air Induction hood, '80 side vents and rear wheel flares before I sold it. It still had the 1979 stripes and wheels. Who knows how it looks now?

I just read this thread, and, I'm so happy that you found your old Z. When you talked about repurchasing a memory, I could imagine what that must be like. Personally I say screw the price, whatever it takes to get her back would be worth the cost. Awesome, congratulations man. Can't wait to see the pics.
