That's the main reason I went to LED tailights, was so I'd get the attention of drivers when I hit the brakes!
^^ Well, I guess that would be the reason right there lol.

They don't make them for early 2nd gens either. I had to fabricate mine by adapting what I could find into my existing housings. Just look at the various catalogs and find lamps with pigtails to fit your sockets and then determine which will fill the area the best. I siliconed mine into the housing and also used a few screws to get them solid.
Sometimes you just gotta make do with what they offer and make it work.

What he said...only I gotta get some decent taillights first. Oh yeah and the engine/transmission in my car so I can put it on the road.

Dude, they totally make kits for the 70 - 73's for around 100 - 150 bucks. Anything for 73 - 81 though is another story. Someone on here had a dad that was going to start making kits for the 78 - 81's though and had some pictures of a test setup that they had done on his car. They looked good but I never heard anything past doing his own car.

That's good news, but it cost me less than $60 to build mine up from LED's for early Chevy trucks. Not sure I'd have done it if it cost $100-$150. Wonder if that's just the tailights at that price, or all 4 like I did with mine?

i might just try that with led strips in the housing maybe five strips down the middle i think it would look awesome and different and all id hafta do is whire them up and take the housing apart and silicone them to the housing itself and then wire up a plug so i can take the whole thing out and then it will be bright if i had 5 strips of 25 medium sized leds on either side it would be custom but not trashy kinda like what 1971bb427 did with his except it would be customized for a 79 instead of a 71 and i could keep my blackouts
