rotted floor pan kinda
i realize i posted a longer thing entirely about the possible camaro but the drivers side floor pan but the toes has a 3 inch whole in it. but only a few inches surround that of rust. i was wondering with sheet metal pounded out to match it with welding the metal over the hole be a good subsitute for next to nothing in price compared to buying new floor pan. i can weld and can get sheet metal. thanks

I don't understand your question is? You said you can weld and you are going to "pounded the metal out to match" Is your question about a state inspection? Seemless floor pan replacment is normaly limited to show cars. A lot of guys will overlap and install repoped floors but there is no gage to see if you got the shape right. I have seen street signs screwed in to the floor to make a patch. In PA there can be no way for exhaust fume to enter the passanger compartment. Even duct tape can meet that requirment. Dont forget its a unibody so it relies on that floor to give the car its strength
I have seen camaro with no rust and I have seen camaro is 24 inch of grass growing where your feet should be. But I have never seen a floor that just had one hole in it. Most of them rust right along where the floor meets the internal rocker (this is hard to see with the carpet still in) also where your feet would be if you where in the back seat and right under the pedals. I not saying its impossible to have one hole its just unlikely.

If all you have is that one hole, patching it will be fine. You don't need to go through all the work of replacing the whole floor portion.
Just be sure to cut out all the old rusty parts, because as they say "rust never sleeps."
