Default Restoration Time!

Long time, no post! Aint been on here in a little while. Anyhow, restoration should begin in the next month or so..tires, carb, whole 9 yards..

Anyhow, I gotta friend who told me I should get a holley 650 double pumper. I got a stock 350, is that a good mix? Or too much..any advice is helpful.

Also, whats some good 235/60-r15 tires? Looking at BFG radials, and kuhmo ecsta lx. Any input?

I'd go with a 650 vacuum secondary, not a double pumper. BFG Radial T/A's wear very well, and should give you good mileage.

Not sure I understand what you're looking for on the AC question? If it's stock AC, then there's a pivot mount bracket and a bracket for tensioning the belt. The condenser on most GM's come with 4 point mounts on the sides built into the unit.

Sorry for the confusion, I was inclass and trying to keep it short. Anyhow, im going to be buying a whole AC unit (compressor, condensor, evaporator, lines, etc.) And since it had AC at one time, I was curious how many brackets are needed for the unit. I know a bracket is necessary for the compressor. Any idea where I could purchase some bracket? Or how many there are? Is the compressor the only part that needs a bracket? I cant find pics

I think the compressor mounts similar to the alternator,a bracket on top,and another at the bottom where you swivel the compressor to tighten to the belt up.The condenser will also have brackets, but i think they may come with it when you buy it,i may be mistaken though.

I believe there is also a bracket to support the back of the compressor that bolts to the exhaust manifold. The compressor is long and heavy. I'll try to get some pictures of the brackets today. I have a set I took off a 73 350.

Are you looking to do a "correct" restoration, or is something cleaan and neat OK? If it's a hotrod without concern for a numbers matching restoration then you have options. You can go with something later that fits any first gen SBC, or you can go aftermarket for some bling, like billet stuff.
If your car has nothing, and you're headed towards a complete build, I'd suggest contacting Vintage Air and give them your car year and make, and they can set you up with the works to make a clean, neat package that's nicer than stock.

That's exactly what I have Val. Mine was missing the compressor, hoses and condenser and the evaporator housing was broken. I have the Vintage Air kit to put in and it will really clean up the passenger side engine bay. I'm even going to weld in sheet metal to smooth the firewall. I didn't want to use the old technology. Now I have up to date controls and an efficient system once it's installed. It's pricey but in my opinion, well worth it.

Here are the pictures of the 4 brackets for the driver's side mounting of the AC compressor. The 3rd picture is of the 2 brackets at the back that I didn't separate.
