Default redo seats

Hi Everyone,

So I finally decided to fix the old torn seats on my 73. A guy quoted me $400 for reupholstering all my seats and making the package tray. Does anyone have any experience with this? and is this a good price?

Thanks

It sounds like a good price,a friend of mine is getting his seats and door panels redone, and it's costing him $1000,that is for custom made covers, but still alot more than what you found.Just make sure you check out the persons work before you let them mess with your car.

$400 is a steal really. You would be hard pressed to buy new covers and the tools and do it yourself for that. I redid my Mustang seats back in the early 90's and while it is not hard it is a pain in the tail to get the wrinkles out and the foam in the covers right. Yea $400 is a steal if that includes everything. And like B.M. said check out his work first.

Make sure they are going to replace the seat foam with new.
If the old, deteriorated, collapsed, deformed foam is reused, you will end up with sloppy & saggy fitting covers.

I don't see how anyone could do them for $400 to begin with even if your supplying them. A set of covers will run you at least that much. New foams about $350 more front and rear. Package trays can be had for about $30 bucks. Most guys around here get $50 to $75 per seat labor just to recover with aftermarket covers. Custom work only goes up from there. Do make sure you see some of his handy work like others have said. Pro's always have a brag book of their work or actual projects going they are proud to show.

Okay, so I went ahead with this guy and I'm pretty impressed with his work. The reason it is so cheap is because he works out of his garage and does this as a side job. I'll try and post some pics later today. I think I'm also gonna get him to do the seats in my dad's Firebird
