Yeah, a picture would help. It depends on how deep the dent is, if it's a hard crease, if the paint is cracked, etc. If it's more of a curved push in, you might be able to pop it back out somewhat from inside the trunk. Using a hammer and dolly would be a last resort since it's going to damage the paint job. You can get a paintless dent puller where plastic sticks get glued to the paint, then loosened off with a solvent after the pulling is done. How you go about it all depends on the extent of the dent.

Can you get to the dent from inside the trunk? If it's above trunk pan level, then you might have a good chance of popping it out with a rubber mallet. If it's not damaged too badly, like paint missing, then it shouldn't be too hard.
A picture will help.

If there's more than one dent (ie. a cluster of dents or if its wrinkled) remember that the best way to get it back is to work backwards...meaning try to go in reverse order that the dents were put it. Of course you probably wont know the exact order, but you should be able to get some idea by looking at the dent(s) and trying to picture how they were put in/what order.

i had my old neighbor back into my car one day, thank god he only hit the ford, i knocked on his door and he said "oh sorry, heres $100, get a new door" so i took a hammer and wood, beat out most of the dent, and bought a radio lol

If it's below the trunk pan, it might still be repairable without major issues, but only if it's not too deep. Let's see the dent and maybe I can guide you more, or you can bring it by and we'll see what it might take.

Know anyone that has a good slide hammer and stud gun? That'd be the easiest way to get that dent out.
