Questions about the new 79 !!!!!!!!!

Question Questions about the new 79 !!!!!!!!!

1. i have air shocks in the back, not sure on brand, good idea or back idea? i do go to the dragstrip and run once in awhile to see where the moneys going =]
2. its a factory 4 speed, what trans is it? muncie?
3. can i use my rear end out of the 2000? obviously id upgrade the shafts.
4. i need a list of sites with factory replacment parts, i dont want used i want all new stuff
5. any cool custom interior stuff? links? pics? i like resto mods
6. besides engine and drivetrain, standard 2 gen upgrades, suspension?

thanks guys any input will surely help, im def a noob to the 2 gen game

Theres some of the many that offer parts and upgrades for our cars (suspension etc.).

I have air shocks and only hear people say they are no good but i like them and they are a good option at the strip.

For the Z28's in 79 they came with an M21 4 speed which is a Muncie, not to sure about the rear end but I don't see why it wouldn't fit.

The 4th gen rearend is wider hub-to hub than the 79's. You would need to use the 4th gen wheels in back, but they wont fit the front. Also, the 79 is leaf spring suspension, the 2000 is coil. It's gonna take a bit of cutting. grinding, and welding to make it work.

so i take it im better off just building the one thats there now.
does anyone know about a conversion to all wheel disk and coil?

I've enjoyed buying from National Parts Depot. Very good parts and great service.
No way to know whether you've got a Muncie M20 or M21, or a Borg Warner T10. You'll have to get under there and check to see if it's aluminum or cast iron, and how many bolts on the side cover.
Lots of upgrades available for 2nd gen suspension from mild bushing kits to radical 4 link rears and trick fronts. It's a very good suspension in stock form, and with good body bushings and suspension bushings it will be even better. Aftermarket control arms are available too.
A 4 wheel disc brake setup is also vailable from many sources. You can go with Baer, Wildwood, or one of the generics to save some bucks. Just need to figure out how much you want to spend and what wheels you'll be running first. Wheel diameter will dictate how big a rotor you can use.

In terms of cool interior restomod stuff you will be disappointed as was i because there really isn't near as much as you could probably get for the 2000...sure you can do a bunch of stuff tho like new seats, stereo, gauges etc.

The trans is probably a Saginaw or Borg Warner ST10.

For interior upgrades I like stuff the looks like it should be there. Gaugemarks has an oil pressure gauge that fits in the stock cluster in place of the clock. IKD why they never came with one but they didn't. The can also refurbish the gauges and calibrate them so they are accurate as Autometer. I seen a set they did recently that was almost stock except the background was carbon firber and the red line was changed on the tach.

looks good but i think im still going to have to go with the 4th gen interior in her

I've seen that it looks real good. I seen a few threads about modifing the center console to fit and get the handbrake working.
