Default Purchasing Questions, I am New

Hi,

I just signed up here, I am new (obviously). Anyway, I have an opportunity to purchase a MINT 1976 Camaro from an old woman in my town. She is trying to just get rid of it.

I briefly looked at it yesterday. No rust anywhere visible. I checked the underbody and engine bay. No fender rust. Could use some new paint. It is original from factory. Stock engine with 51,000 miles. Turns over on first try. Nothing funny that I can hear. Even original tires. Interior looks like it has been sat in once or twice. No cracks in the leather or dash. It has been garage kept it's entire life and is lightly driven every weekend she says.

She wants $4,000 obo.

Is there specific things I should be looking for here? She said all of the numbers match, they owned it since they bought it from the factory.

Is that even a good price?

Soo much to know, I just do not want to let this pass if it is a good deal.

I would say that is a very good price if that is the actual miles and there is no rust. They are getting very hard to find like that.

Look at the rear frame. Leaf spring pockets. The corners of the windshield where the dash and cowl meet. Wheel wells and such.

I just went back to take some pics, got there and realized I did not have my camera. I will go back tomorrow to do so.

I was able to take a better look under the car today, the lighting was better. There is ABSOLUTELY no rust. I could eat off the underside.

All of the original chrome was good too. There was a little bit of wavyness to the right window molding, nothing that would be difficult to take care of.

Anyway, I will go back tomorrow with the camera.

Look here for rust and a bad windshield seal. Even my 50.000 mile car has a bad seal.

Hey I have that same problem on my front dash, how are you going to fix yours? Mine is through, I was thinking of just cutting a piece from a donor car and welding it on, sort of afraid of messing up the vin. I would definitely buy that car, does she have all the original paper work? since she is the original owner?

If you were asking me. I bought another car. I have seen people replace the cowl piece. They repop them. The problem is the seal. It dries and shrinks. From what I've read when the windshield is resealed with that caulk stuff the windshield sits alittle lower and the trim sits funny. I would rather that then having a nice car rust there. Heres the pic that didn't post.
