Default Power Steering mounting

Hey guys,

I know this is a stupid question but I can't figure out how my power steering pump mounts on the bracket. If you have the time to photo shop my picture with what goes where that'd be awesome or just try and explain it to me. Thanks. Sorry its blurry

I'd love to help, but not sure that's even a power steering bracket! It looks nothing like mine, and I wonder if it might be an AC compressor bracket?

I agree with you Val. It doesn't look like mine either. My PS pump mounts down low. I'd bet that it is an AC compressor bracket.

The correct bracket should locate the pump low on the driver's side, and be a U shaped bracket, with two other pieces. Like this:

You should be able to remove these brackets from any SBC powered car from the late 60's to early 80's and it will fit and work on your Camaro.

Nope. Pulley stays on, but be sure to take an open and box end wrench in 1/2 and 9/16", as you'll need them to get between the pump and pulley to remove the short bolts. Most are 9/16", but just in case it might need a 1/2". Some later in the 80's might even have those stupid metric bolt heads.

So went to the yard and the only bracket I could find was one that also had AC so there is no third piece because it bolts to the AC bracket which is no problem cause I have one but then it also had a double groove pulley so the bolts wont come out unless I pull the pulley because it is wider than a standard pulley.

That's a strange one, I have AC and mine has the 3 brackets that Val posted pictures for. There is no connection between the PS mounting and the AC bracket at all.
