while we're on the topic of gears this fall/winter i think i'll have enough for posi and gears. I'm running about 3000 rpm at around 80mph down the highway. how would 3.73 gears affect that? right now im running a stock rearend.

I wish i remembered what it was tacking at 75,must have been the gearing in the M22 that added to higher reving.Anyway,I have pretty much decided to put the car back to stock, which will be a winter project.Seems nobody interested in buying a car with 2 drivetrains.Seems odd to me considering one should be able to get good money for a ZZ383 topped off with the best parts available ie;msd billet distributer, serpentine front acc. drive,750 speed demon, msd box, edelbrock air gap intake, custom ceramic coated headers, etc.I have over 10 K in this drivetrain with accesories. Then maybe it will sell, listing as 100% numbers matching, original 41,000 mile, rust free surviver.I believe its the economy-period.three years ago I had sizeable offers all the time.Oh well!

I think the economy has a great deal to do with it. Since the car has seen a restoration, and doesn't have the original running gear in it, it makes people suspicious of the 41,000 miles. I think most people would wonder why a car with only 41k on it would need a restoration, or new drivetrain. Most people will suspect it's 141,000 unless you can document that it's never turned over. And then there's the economy that is causing all collectable cars to be down anywhere from 20-30% over previous years.
I think your plan to return the original drivetrain to the car would help bring it up, and I'd just keep the other drivetrain for a future project and not even mention it in a future sale.

If you're turning 3,000 at 80, I'd guess you've already got 3.73 gears. Putting a posi in it wont change the rpm.

To 71BB,I am still in touch with the body shop owner who did "most" of the resto,he is in Ohio.He new the car from its beginning,it was in his neighberhood sitting beside a house unkept for years. He bought it in 1989,I have the original Ohio title, that is when he did the resto, then sold it to a guy where it sat in dry storage many years never driven.Straight story from a straight guy who had nothing to gain.Anyway it does not matter if no one is coming to look at it.Later

The M22 has a 1:1 fourth gear. It would be the same as a TH350 or 400 or my ST-10. All 1:1 final gear.

Last post about the mileage.Anyone that inspects the car can see,it has ZERO rust, the stock wiring is cherry, its never had rear quarters.Anyone that inspects the car can tell it is not 141,000.The "I question the mileage" is totally understandable considering its on ebay.Anyway, thank you guys

Please don't take my post the wrong way. I wasn't questioning the mileage, just pointing out why most people will question it. As for zero rust and original quarters; my '71 has 170,000 on it now and zero rust, plus original quarters.
