Default Passing gear

Hi i am new to the forums and well kinda new to cars as well. I got my first car its a 1981 camaro type lt 305/350 rebuilt. Well my car doesnt seem to get the passing gear when i floor it, i was told the kickdown caple needed adjusting. My question was if anyone can show me a step by step on how to adjust it or images at the least. Thank you

You want to look at a couple of things. With the engine off, hold the carburetor linkageto WOT (wideopen throttle). The detent cable to the trans should be pulled all the way out. If you can still pull it forward while holding the carb open, then you need to adjust it. Now have somebody get inside the car and mash the gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold it. Look down the carband make surethe throttle plates areopening all the way. Your kickdown problem could be either the trans cable adjustment, or the pedal not opening the carb fully.
