Well first things first, grab a flashlight and take a peek at the drivers side inspection cover and let's see if it's a Muncie or what have you.

If your car has some miles on it, and has been running regular oil, I'd hesitate to change to synthetic oil! I did that on a car I had that had only 34,000 miles, and it started smoking whenever it was cold. It also dropped oil pressure throughout idle and running speed.
I finally figured out the only change I made was the oil, so I went back to regular oil and changed the filter. After a few miles I changed it again, and the smoke and low pressure went away.
Had a friend who said he did the same in his Ford with a 460 that had about 60,000. His went away too, but he never could get pressure back after returning to regular oil. He finally pulled the engine and rebuilt it.
If your car's engine is low miles it will probably be just fine, but otherwise I'd hesitate to do synthetic.

Yeah, some will say that's BS but I've heard that too although I've not had first hand experience with it.
My car has a 200K on the clock,196K when I bought it,supposed to have a 60K motor but I got no documentation to prove it.
I had the oil changed right away with Castrol GTX 10/40 dino oil and now change it every 3K,great oil pressure and hasn't smoked or used any oil so far.

yeah the tach says about 197k miles but the engine supposidly only has 60k on it but has sat for 8 years un-run, it had regular oil in it and that all spilt out and burned up and i keep puting sythetics in and it seems to have at least slowed down the leak, and the $400 was from a student loan refund thing bc i didnt spend the entire thing on college, i wasnt expecting it lol, techically it was an $800 check but that just means i dont have to pay my dad the 400 back for the clutch flywheel pressure plate and starter and what not
