Default new wheels and tires, and the problems they caused

So i finally saved up yhe cash for new tires on the camaro. I bought all new bf goodrich TA's and had them installed on a set of ralley wheels I have. Once they were installed the right rear was rubbing on the fender lip. Now my next thing to buy is going to be new leaf springs and shocks, however i just shot my load on the new tires so its going to be a while. In the mean time I thought that a shackle lift would be a quick, easy and cost efficient way to run the new tires till i can afford the springs. Well it took 12hours of hell to get them installed. So now the camaro is back on the road and looks like an entirely different car. The pics I am attaching are before the shackles, it was a little dark by the time I got her back together for pics.

What sizes are the tires you went with? It looks like you have a lowering kit on the rear.

Post some new pics after the shackle kit.

thats not a lowering kit.. its 25 year old leaf springs. Just add some air shocks to the rear to lift it up higher.. Should be ok..

Ha, mine are stock and 35+ years old and don't sag that bad!

they are 255/60 15 rear and 215/60 15 front. The car is not lowered, the springs are shot. The shackles have three different heights i could go with. I choose the middle and it still rubs. i will take new pics after i raise it up to the third holes.

haha i was looking at my camaro today with my air shocks. there pumped up to like 50psi... its so jacked up in the rear. i sorta wonder what it will be like to let it down to 10~30 psi and see how low it sits in the rear. it rides like a rock in town well see tomorrow when i pick up the lady friend

Worth a try to just let some air out until it begins to occasionally rub, then add 5 lbs. to adjust it. If you changed your shackles it would sit right and not ride so hard with less air.
I just got new leaf springs for mine and I'm going to have to figure out what pressure to run the shocks after I install the new springs. My old springs were 5 leaf and the new are 4 leaf. Supposed to be the same rate, but mine were nearly 40 yrs. old, so we'll see how they work.

I lifted it up to the highest setting on the shackles. Now its not rubbing. This will work till i get the new springs, which is going to be a while now that i have to replace a ttop

looks good man.

yeah my camaro doesn't have aftermarket shackles but i got a set in the barn. i been looking at them for a while but i dont want to Raise it i wana lower it some and make it ride a bit better "softer". what do longer shackles really do for our cars? the problem is im going to be running 14" for now till i change to 15"s and i have no rubbing i have the opposite. a deep dark void called the wheel well! and all its wonders to view.
