Default New to forums need advice

Hi, im looking at buying a 79 camaro, the previous owner rebuilt the engine to a 350. The newly rebuilt engine has around 20k miles on it. It runs and has interior. however it has some minor body work. hes selling it 2,000 obo. It looks real nice and not hard to restore. Ive always wanted an old camaro, my ex girlfriend had a 76' w/ 383 stroker and now that shes gone i need another pride and joy toy. I was wondering if i should keep looking and mabey just get a body and put a bigger engine in it than a 350, or find one like this with a new 350 in it. any advice?

Body parts are relatively cheap for these cars. If you like and have the $, get it! You could spend years looking for another one....

The price is about right on I'd buy it. The longer you wait the more you're gonna spend. After 2 years mines worth a grand more than I paid for it.

well another thing is, its an automatic. that would be graet for a daily driving car. butthis is a project car, any thoughts? my old auto tech teacher used tohave a 69 gto and a 67 gto. both were autos. Am i messing something?i figured a auto trans. takes all the fun out?

there is nothing wrong with that, just get a hurst slap shifter. Autos are easier to drive, and most of the fun is all the power and handeling. my car has an auto as well with a hurst shifter so I can play when I want.
