Default New Camaro needs TLC...

I just purchased a 81 Camaro, the car has been ina garage for the past ten years started couple times a week and drove maybe once a month,I bought it from the orginal owner.

I have decided to replace all the fluids in the car.My question is there anything I should do before replacing all the fluids like some additive.I really need to speak to someone that has bought a car and had to do the same. The motor runs fine seems slugish which is to be expected,I am wondering about internal seals gaskets etc...Thats why I was thinking maybe to run some sort of cleaner or any type of additive through system. This is all new to me,this is myfirst project car I have ever owned.I would appreciate any help concerning this or any other helpful information.I am sure this has probably been posted somewhere on forums but I didn't have much luck finding it.

Thanks in advance,

ok i'm not an expert with cars and everyone here knows that but i'll just tell you can i did with mine, it worked out pretty good.

first i tried to clean the whole engine wih engine degreser and make sure that it didnt' have any leak or something.. u know what i mean? then checked most of the hoses to see if they needed to be changed...

for the liquids you can get some radiator flush, engine flush, etc. anything that your tinking on cleaning up(change fluids).

-i'm guessing you want to make a readiator flush and clean it and put some new antifreze.
-change the oil of course. after that you can add an "engine restore" you know the silver can.
-idk if you have A/C i didn't so i couldn't tell u.
-for the gas, i added one of those "fuil system cleners" but so far the Techron has worked out better for me. Then chevron gas is been my choice since i liked their techron.
-then you can add some octain busters, they help clean and they give you a lil extra bust.
-one of the best things i used was sea foam, i got it at pepboys, idk where u at so idk u have those there. anyways use it as it says, i used it more than once, it helped.

after that idk i dont' really remeber, but that was a good start for me.

Thanks for all your information, today I noticed a leak after looking I found both of my powersteering hoses where leaking.I have decided to take the car and have both the tranny and radiator flushed andI am planning on doing the rear differential myself.Really my main comcern was the internal portion of the engine and carb I was worried about any seals springs etc... that might be either dry rootted or hung up.And as far as engine treatments there are so many out there really hard choice to make. But I will give your choices a try.

Thanks Again

Sure...

yeah of course that what i said was not to fix any problems, you know just to clean it up a lil bit, and see if you have any mayor problems, like the PS hose, i had the same exact problem, that also helped me find out my discrace, one of my cyliders is scratched or somthing.... how do i know... burning oil and build ups on the spark... sad huh? anyways hope i was useful even if not in the way u wanted,
i would like to see pix too
