Just posted in the new members area, but figured I'd post here too.
Thursday I just purchased a 1974 Camaro (350) for $2500 Completely new to this type of camaro lol. Had a 94 z28, but I'm already liking this camaro a little bit more than my z28 ahah. Needs a lot of work, but nothing some elbow grease can't fix. A few small rust spots just needs to be sanded down. Focusing on the motor right now. Has hedman shorty headers and flowmaster exhaust when I bought it. Thinking about a 4 barrel 650 carb and a bigger cam next. Then I'll tackle the interior and exterior next (starting with new tires and maybe rims) She is loud as hell and makes me proud so far..besides the oil leak coming from the valve cover gaskets ahah. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi since I'm sure I'll have a question or two later on .

Looks like a great start. Definitely going to be cheaper starting where you are than getting an incomplete basketcase.

 

Very true but I should have taken pics during the day because it looks a lot better in these pics then on real life lol.

No, not purple lol it's a darker red, and it's dark outside lol. I'll take another pic or two today I just finished putting the new valve cover gaskets on a few minutes ago so I'm waiting for the silicone to dry. Thank you and I'm sure I will ask a question or two since I'm new to this generation of camaro and completely new to carburetor's lol.

I'm actually trying to decide which 4 barrel to buy, right now nothing too big though lol.

My personal preferance with street 4bbl cars is the Edelbrock 1406. It is a 600CFM with mech secondaries and electric choke. They run about $275-$300 new and work really good with stock to mildly built 350s.

Alot of people like the Holley carb, which is also a good carb, but I dont care for the antiquated power valve, so my vote goes to the Edelbrock.

Also the Edelbrock Performer dual plane intake 2701, or 2101, both look great and will improve performance over a stock manifold.

The 2701 is designed to be used with the 1400 series and other square bore carbs with no plate. The 2101 has a spread bore configuration that allows a stock Q-jet carb to be used. If a square bore is used you will have to use plate #2732 or similar to prevent a vacuum leak.
