I went to go look at this Camaro today and came away with a much better feeling about it thatn I thought I would, http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/1228243330.html. I really like this car and see a lot of my old 78 Z28 in it. It has a 305 bolted up to a T-56. I'm not thrilled with the 305 but this will be my wife's car so it'll do for now. Took it for a short drive today and everything felt real solid, despite needing a slightly better tune on the carb. The interior need pretty much completely finished, none of the gauges are hooked up at the moment. The main problem the guy is running into is that the T-56 uses an electonic sending unit for the speedometer. I didn't know if this would matter for the tach as well or if that could just be hooked up to the distributor cap somehow, like the aftermarket ones you can pick up. Also, I feel 5000 was a little steep considering the condtion of the interior. I feel that 4200 would be a fair offer, just wondered what you guys thought.

It looks like it's in real nice shape body wise. Is it pretty much rust-free? Yeah, lowball him on the price. $5,000 might sound high, but a good t56 and the work to put it in doesn't come cheap either. Probably close to half the asking price for just that. For the speedo, you can spend a few bucks and go this route...cough...wheeze...to convert it to cable drive: http://www.southweststreetworks.com/housing.html Maybe someone knows a less costly source?
Or, put in custom gauges with an electric speedo.
