need help with my 79 camaro 4 speed
hey guys im new to the forum and camaros but not to chevys i have a 79 impala,70 chevy belair, and 04 silverado z71,i just bought a 79 camaro with 38,000 miles 350 4 speed it belonged to a little old lady believe it or not her husband was a mechanic, the problem i am having is when i shift into 1st its hard to get it into gear and when i downshift from second to third it sometimes make like a clunkish grind sound if i downshift over 25mph into second but isnt bad at all,if i downshift under 25mph its perfect, when the old ladys husband the mechanic put the new 350 crate in it to replace the 305 he put a new clutch in it the clutch and engine has 4,000 miles on it, i have asked around people said the clutch probley needs adjustment, has anyone had this problem and how do you fix it?also what kind of make and model of 4 speed is in my 79 camaro? its the stock tranny, thanks in advanced for the help
The clutch is out of adjustment. If it's an origional 4 spd. car it should have a Borg Warner T10 a.k.a. the super T10. I have the same setup in my '79 Z.
thanks a lot for the help i called up my tranny guy he said the soonest i can bring it in is the end of the week, is it ok to drive it like this? i really want to bring it out to a few shows this week but if i shouldnt drive it i wont, or is this a easy fix that i can do it myself if so how do u do it? thanks again
