as a pontiac guy I can tell you that the Pontiac engine was as good as they got in those years and as far as efficient look at a pontiac and you will see that it did not have an air pump this is because it had better VE, the int. manifold is better than most aftermarket intakes and the pontiacs had 800cfm Q-jets on some models, af for the heads if they are correct for the car they will have a "6X" on the center ext. ports and on the air con. mounting bosses look for ether a nuber 8 or 4 if it's a 4 it will have smaller chamber with higher comp. this is the 220hp
