my first bulid

my first bulid
so long story short
my good buddy almost got killed on his crotch rocket so i decided to be smart and trade mine for some muscle.
i ended up finding someone willing to trade there camaro for my bike.
the guy lived about 4 hrs from my home town so i made a trip there to show him the bike and look at the car then made a gentlemens agreement that we both would do the trade. a very long two weeks later he finally pulled out his engine and was ready to trade so we hooked up the trailer and ventured west.
the camaro is a 1980 z28. it was a race car most of its life and race car i mean a rough tacked together race car. well my plans were to bring it back to the street as a presentable street/ strip car. i of course got the car with no engine. here it is when we brought it back from ohio.
doesnt look bad till you get up to and you can see the paint is horrible
well i started building up the block i got which is from a 1970 camaro
and this is what i ended up with
flat top 10:1 pistons
forged balanced crank
isky cam (510 lift)
edelbrock tryx tunnel ram
2 holley 600 carbs
305 HO heads (ported and polished and valve job)
i took my time with this and tried not to over spend
shopped around and what not cause im on a fixed budget
well when it was all finished a bunch of my uncles friends helped us put in the engine, it was my first one so it was real exciting for me
everything went together smoothly. we bolted up the tranny which is a built up turbo 350 with reverse manual valve body and a b&m holeshot 3500 stall converter.
we put on the intake carbs and scoop, not gonna lie this was so exciting for me i was like a little school girl it looked just so cocky haha.
about an hour later we were ready to fire. for now i was just running a points distributor cause thats all i had. made a quick run to parts store to get a few last odds and ends.
flipped on the gurgling electric holley fuel pump and turned over the key. it fired and that was it ha. my distributor was junk. so of course i had to wait another day till i could come up with another. well the next day we put in my new distributor and tried it again. this time it started. ahh it was like christmas morning when i was five years old. it ws just as ratty sounding as i hopped with that cam.
i took her out for a test run a day later and realised the carbs i had gotten used with the tunnel ram were junk. so i decided to be smart about it and switched over to another intake which is a edelbrock performer rpm with a single edelbroke 750 carb. i traded the tunnel ram and some cash for a full paint job. i should have pics up soon of the finished exterior. stay tuned guys
