You have about 7 seconds after two top bulbs and one bottom bulb comes on. After that you better be staged or your done. Greg Anderson in pro stock found that out the hard way and he should of known better.

 

Yeah... and thats exactly what probably happened. I was trying to get my RPM's up and I guess I took to long..

Like I said... Lesson learned

 

I finally went with a rev limiter and a trans brake. Roll in, set brake, floor the gas ( alky ) peddle and let go of the button when the third yellow comes on. If the guy next to me is a lot slower, I'll wait till he/she leaves before I step on the gas. Or if I roll in first I'll wait till he/she sets the bottom bulb.
