Default lowering my 1980 camaro

hey guys, need some advice. i want to lower my 1980 camaro. it is at stock height and i want to drop it 3 or 4 inches. im not sure what the best way to do it is. i want to keep the good ride it has now. i was going to do drop spindles but they only make 2 in. is there some kind of combination that is good to do like 2 in drop spindles and lowering springs or something like that? thanks!

don't mean to high-jack your post but while we are on the subject, what are some ways also to raise the rear end of the car?

There is no way in he-- that your going to get a 4" drop on a Camaro. Mine is lower 2" and the lower control arm is only 6" off the ground. I haven't measured the frot crossmember but its more like 3"-4". I didn't even have all the sheet metal on when I took the measurements. As it is I have to roll it on 2x6s so the jack will fir under it to jack it up.

Now to answer your question. Stay away from drop spindles. The stock spindle is very good the way it is. I have Gen II springs, that are about 2" lower than stock. The rear is the same. Then the shackles are adjustable for another 1/2". Then there is the Herb Adams mod to the front leaf spring mount. This involves redrilling the mounting hole 1/2" higher and cutting the top off the bracket. Thats good for another 1"

If it still isn't low enough, start by cutting 1/4 of the coil off the fronts at a time. Reinstall and check things out. Repeat the process until its where you want. The rear can get blocks if its not low enough.

Or just go to air ride suspension that you can adjust like many oif the lowrider crowd uses. Then you can adjust the whole thing with a switch, and drop it in the dirt when parked.

my 70 RS was already lowered when i bought it and i cant stand it at all, you always have to watch for speed bumps, curves etc, it scrapes the btm of the car etc i just dont like it, i respect that some do admire the low profile look however i think i have surpassed that generation as far as age because i think people in my era raised the back up but they werent lowered back in the day, however as stated i do see where some do like the look many of the imports are lowered lol like the rice burners for instance

Something is not right about that. It looks like it has spring spacers in it. You could get stock springs and bring that down 3".

The passenger side looks higher than the drivers too. You need to look into your front end and see if the coil is located proper in the subframe. There are tabs that for a circle up there, they should all be inside the spring.

Probably just has new springs that haven't settled yet. I'd swap them out for 2" lowering springs and it will be great. I think you'll regret going 3" once you start dragging the undercarriage on everything!
