Default Looking for a good source of basic sbc swap knowledge

I just recently bought a stripped out camaro and a 350 and I soon realized I have no idea what I am doing. Does anyone know of any good camaro forums or any resources I should try to look for. I know i need some wiring, and misc here and there things.

Basically im looking for a motor swap for dummies resource.

Depends on what year / type of motor you are putting in. This forum is great for questions, there are a lot of very experienced second gen camaro peoples out there.

What are you putting in? For a mid 70's 350 all you need is mounts and 12v at the distributor. The tach is even one wire. If it's a TBI or TPI, you will want the harness and computer from the donor car. There are aftermarket kits available, but $$$.

I'm not sure of a good book specific to second gen camaro, but you can find an assembly manual on ebay that may be helpful.

You are putting a 327 in a first gen or a 327 into a second gen? Either way this is a good place to get knowledge. Real time answers (well, as soon as someone with the answer reads the question. There is a general tech subforum at the top of the opening page. Or you can continue the questions here and get answeres soon too. As far a motor swap for dummies, I think this is the bast place to be. So, ask away.

no but I appreciate the offer blade

This is what I have so far....let me know if im wrong or missing something.

Ok so as far as I can see there are 2 large mounts for the motor. They are some kind of rubber or something. This motor is supposed to have in the neighborhood of about 400-500hp. Do I just use normal grade 8 bolts and put it in the mounts? Will the mounts hold up?

To connect the motor and transmission I need to bolt the stall converter to the flywheel then slide the bellhousing against the motor and bolt it up.

Next up is the transmission. It is a turbo 350. Someone suggested I put the motor in first then the transmission but I don't see how that would work. I can see that it would probably bolt into the crossmember but where else is it supposed to connect? I know that I have to connect a shifter, some wire for the carb, and a trans cooler to the tranny. Anything more than that? I know how to do the shifter but the other 2 I don't.

Also can I get a stock 1979 driveshaft to fit?

Thanks

You have a 327 pushing 400 to 500 HP?
