Leak?

Leak?
Hi,
First post, may be a daft question but it's hard to find any info on American cars in England.
any help would be really apreciated
On the left hand side of the firewall towards the bottom there is a box bolted on and it's leaking a clear fluid out of the bottom and the fluid is hot.
I'm guessing it's coolant, but if anyone can confirm or point me in the right direction, before i open it up to investigate.
Many thanks from Luke

"On the left hand side", that does sound daft! Do you have a right hand drive Camaro, or are you referring to it as looking from under the hood? The (U.S.) 2nd gens didn't have a "box" bolted to the firewall that's related to the heater core. The heater core is buried into the duct work under the dash, and has two in and out fittings that stick through the firewall for the heater hoses to connect to. A picture of what you have could be helpful.

Oh man, you English are daft!
I thought you may have been looking at it that way. Yeah, I would say heater core.....or the hose connection. Usually when a core goes bad, it will leak inside the car and get the passenger floor wet. But, you shouldn't have "clear" liquid coming out, that would mean you have water with no antifreeze. Are you sure it's clear? If so, you could have frozen your hozen and popped a split.
Oh, and I correct myself from my first post. I didn't mean to say "hood", I meant "bonnet"!

Don't feel bad, I couldn't make sense of it either!
It is or was a TV show on Discovery Channel, but I don't get the connection.

Wheeler Dealers is a British show where they get a car from Auto Trader or something simular and then fix it up and flip it for profit on a budget. The English terms for different parts are weird.
When you mentioned bonnet. Those guys were the first thing that came to mind. But the way their mechanic talks just drives me nuts. They had a mid 80s Vette on there and all he could talk about was the yanks shoddy wiring.
Sorry I just associated the two not realizing nobody would know what hell I was talking about.
