On my '79 Camaro, the kickdown cable is hooked up, and it is pulled all the way out at wide open. My car still does not kick down when i nail it though. Any ideas?
Thanks.

does it kick down at all? could be a broken cable or its unhooked in the trany. i think theres a arm in there the cable hooks to. have you pulled on the cable to see if it feels like its doing anything?

when i pull on it, it just feels loose. like its pulling nothing at all, and then i slide it back in. maybe it is disengaged from that arm you are talking about? can i take the pan off and just hook it back up?

its been so long from the last time i played with a th trany that i dont remember. i was thinkin u could just pull the cable off at the trany and do it. that way u could see if its a broken cable too.

You should be able to see the kickdown arm on the outside of the tranny. If the cable is still hooked up, then try moving thye arm at the tranny and see if there's resistance there. If not, the problem is inside.

alright, so i took of the mounting bracket on the tanny, and the kickdown cable has slipped off the metal piece its supposed to be hooked up to inside. guess i have to open it up. if anyone has any info i would really appreciate it.
