Default key igintion wiring help please

Hi,

I'm looking at the connector plug which goes into the steering column, I assume there is one wire which sends +12vdc to the ignition key barrel and then when you turn the key, it will send the +12vdc back down a different cable which will go to the starter motor.
the connector block has the following colour wires
black
red
black
light green
blue
brown
purple
yellow
green
white
can someone please tell me which colour wires I'm looking for and which is the wire going to and from the ignition key barrel

many thanks from Luke

Hi,

Please can you confirm that the purple core is the 12vdc from the ignition barrel to the starter motor.

Thanks

Yup. It doesnt go to the barrel either. The switch is much lower on the column. I have the entire harness in my dining room as I'm typing this. I have been pulling use less wires out.

The key pushes a rod that is hooked to the ignition switch mounted on the column. Not real hard to get to but it would go better if you were a contortionist.

Oh! I forgot, Val can you send that diagram in a larger format? When I opened the one you posted it wasnt clear enough to read. I have all the black and white ones but man a color one is just much faster.

I'm only looking at the connecter which is visible just before it enters into the steering coloume. So purple is 12v to the starter, but which colour is the 12v into the steering coloume?

The schematic is a little small to make anything out.

Thanks from Luke

There are a bunch of power and grounds going into one particular plug. The lower left is the plug you want, there are red 12V constant and pink w/ black strip is a for 12v with the key on. This diagram is for a '78. Be warned my '80 has different colors in a couple locations. I couldnt tell you right off hand which ones though. The area in the left center is where they all go in to the firewall plug. The lower left is lower section of the firewall plug. It is basically cut in half horizontally. Power feeds to the dizzy, headlights, starter, wiper motor and AC all are passed to the engine compartment here. The upper half of the plug carries the gauge wires and such.

Here is the wiring for a '74. ope these help. I have these on my tablet, it is just like having a diagram right there and I can zoom in on areas to see whats going on.

Not sure what's going on Damon. It's full screen size when I look at it here. I'll try it again:
