whats up guys, i have a 79 camaro. just put a 350 in it. its been in the family since new. my mother bought it here on long island and thats where she has lived her life. one time though in the mid 80's it got into an accident. and the rear axel got bent. so my grandfather put a rear from a 77 camaro. how and where can i read to codes to know more about the car. its an open rear. i k now that much and its a 10 bolt...where can i look for numbers and gears that are back there??? thanks guys

 

the axle tube if i remember right its on the upper side on the right side will have a series of letters and numbers that can be decoded to find the original gears and diff style installed into it, remember these internal parts could have been changed so the decoding may not provide the info you seek kurt
