Default installing equus gauges in stock bezel- pics inside

when i got my 78 a couple of gauges didn't work so i decided to get some equus gauges and fit them into the stock bezel. thought i'd make a small walkthrough incase anyone has the same gauges and wanted to try it.

painted it silver to match some of the interior and painted the trim black

i then removed the trim from the gauges

using a screw driver to pry up the trim alittle, and it pops off

glued the glass from the gauge to the front of the bezel

and used a hot glue gun to attach the gauge to the rear of the bezel

completed

the speedo and rpm gauge were alittle tricky, the stock bezel was alittle small to fit the gauges snug, so i took alittle heat to it and stretched plastic for fitment.

Is it a mechanical gauge or electric?

The only thing I can think of is maybe the cable is in a bind or not seated in the back of the speedo fully. Do you have any hard bends in it?

i don't see any hard bends in the cable, i took the cable out and put it back in the car, but its still off by 10 to 20 mph

There wasn't a ratio adapter on the end of the old cable at the trans, was there? You would have noticed, but I still had to ask.
With mechanical drive, it now being off where it wasn't before doesn't make sense. And if the cable was binding, your needle would be jumping like crazy.

i'm stumped too, it was actually reading fine before i tore apart the dash to fix the bezel up, i even drove past one of those radar things they have near schools before and it was reading fine, now if i'm driving 40 it will read about 20-25, ill just have to check the cable again or pick up a new one. i'm sure there is no damage to the speedo
