inkake manifold opinions

Default inkake manifold opinions

bout 15 years ago I thought I new what I was doing built a engine
cam/intake/carb too big. so changing to a 280h comp cam. dont know witch intake to use
edelbrock performer or torker or rpm victor jr ?????,right now I have a strip dominator I be leave it works at 6500 am thinking the rpm someone chime in on this

i have the performer on my 406 is fine with the 650 cfm thunder series edlebrock carb ,i would say you forgot to mention what engine you have ,seems if the doninator is working, 6000 rpm on my 406 redline could be 6500 i forgot too,you may get a faster answer at first gen, general questions,i was told to that unless i was above 500hp anything bigger is not needed ,i have a flat tappet cam

yes 350 I forgot


I got too performers duel plane I milled the the center out the dividing wall
to see if that works
the strip dominator just to big

mine is a lower profile for fiting in the engine bay of the 95 almost any other i would have hole in my hood ,a 600 cfm should be fine

What kind of use for the car, drag strip? street and strip or just a fast street only car? A lot depends on what you need for manners, what might be great on the strip can be crap for a street driven car, especially one you drive a lot.
You didn't mention what you have for heads or if it has high compression pistons or stock, everything needs to be a package that works together.
Too big an intake and carb without the motor to support it will actually make less power than a smaller set up mated to your engine. For a street strip hotrod I've always liked a torker intake with a Holley double pumper but you need to have the right guts in the motor to support it or it's a waste of money, for a stock motor with just a cam I'd go with a performer intake and less carb like an Edlebrock Carter AFB clone and not too big a cam either.
You also didn't say if you have an automatic or manual trans or what kind of rear end gears etc.etc.

just a street car heads 202 10.1 compression automatic trans 10 bolt posi 280h comp is what I plan to use and a 780 holley
I found out big cam/intake/carb did not work ran like a dog

thanks A 780cfm is not needed though i guess you can use it but you may suck wind with that ,like said i have 650 cfm an mine is a mild street strip engine at over 475 lbs 400 rwhp ,for 8th mile runs if i wanted ,yes mine is an engine swap 95 camaro ,an has front end swap too 98-02 ss look,an just a street car ,i have not even done burnouts yet ,but some playing around yes,i need to beef up my rear end before then,my 10 bolt rear has hung in there so far though 2 years an 6k miles on the engine ,

I'd second that,780 is too much carb especially if it's a double pumper.
A 650 would do fine and you'd get better gas mileage, single pump vacuum secondary's given it's an automatic trans and a performer intake would be a good choice for a street driver with an auto trans.
