I need help starting my car!
I'm 17, and I got an old beat up 81 z28 for my first car because I thought it was beautiful, anyways, I need help getting it started. I recently bought a new alternator because the one in there was draining all of my battery, so I put on this new one and it worked perfect for about 3 days, then one day, it just stopped working. The headlights and radio work, so I figured it couldn't be that the battery was draining again, but im no mechanic. Anybody have any idea on what I could do? Thanks.

Radio and lights working does not mean the battery is good. The starter needs a lot more power than the lights and radio. Your problem could be caused by a variety of things. Including battery being bad, a poor connection in the charging circuit, alternator not charging, bad starter, bad connection or wiring in starter circuit, bad neutral safety switch, bad ignition switch, a light staying on, such as the glove box lamp, and killing the battery, etc. Start by getting a voltmeter and check the charging voltage at the battery terminals (should be around 13.5 to 14 Volt with all lights and accessories turned on, engine at fast idle). Make sure the starter engages and draws power. Battery voltage will drop down to around 10 Volt when the starter is engaged and drawing power. Then get a wiring diagram and check all connections.
