I put aftermarket fenders and quarters on my last '78 Camaro and didn't have any trouble with them not fitting. Maybe I got lucky, I don't know.

Skip the 305 and 350, build a 383 or 406 (if you can find a good 400 block). Built with the same parts (cam, heads ect.) the larger displacement engines will make more torque and be more drivable. Building a 383 stroker won't cost much more then a 350.

Just my $.02!

True. I went with a Scat Rotating Assembly with an internally balanced cast stroker crank, 6" steel stroker I beam rods w/ cap screw bolts, KB forged pistons, TS Rings and King Bearings (IIRC).

The 385 kit (mine's .040" over) cost a whopping $70 more then the same 357 rotating assembly.

For $70....I'd of been stupid not to go with the larger displacement assembly.

yeah i want to get my body work done then get working on the engine which i plan on building myself. a 355 was what i planed on building but if a 383 is near the same amount of money i guess that would be the best way to go. i did find a fender today by where i live and is in perfect condition for 75 bucks so i jumped on it now i can start to take everything apart. so much fun is it hard to take the front bumper off and re adjusting the hood?

Not sure on the bumper,i've never taken mine off yet,but on the hood, use something to make a mark on the hood on both sides right around the hinge that way when you bolt it back up you just line it back up with the marks and it will be very close to where it was before.

Well I well mark it. But your changing the fender so it might not line back up. I wouldn't remove the bumper so much as unbolt it from the side your working on. The hood your going to want to throw a towel or a blanket between it and the windshield at the corners when you unbolt it. This is so it doesnt slide down an pop the glass. Ask me how I know and I'll post a pic of the crack. Camaro hoods are heavy as hell, get a friend to help. After the fender is in and BEFORE you close it the FIRST time, run masking tape down the edges of the fender and across the header panel. This will save your paint if the alignment is off.

So I don't need to make a road trip? Thats cool, I didn't want to sell them but money is money.

ok well i want to take both fenders off the one side im replacing and the other does have some rust that is fixable but id liek ot have it off to work on it so i can see the inside and reseal everything in hopes of stopping any rust later on. is the bumper somethign that has to be re lined up after taken off or does it pretty much bolt in one spot that is right where its supose to go?
