How to remove a th350 from 1976 camaro?

im trying to replace my flywheel in my 1976 camaro it has a 350 ci block and a th350 transmission and i dont know how to remove it. to my understanding i have to disconnect drive shaft, disconect shifter/linkage,remove the 8 bell housing bolts, remove the torque converter bolts, remove the crossmember, remove tranny cooler lines, tilt the engine back and slide the tranny out and drop it down, im wondering if i should remove my distributor so when i tilt the engine it doesnt break it? have i covered everything that i need to do? obviously in a different order but is that it? i have access to a engine lift and a tranny jack, but is this everything? your help is apprecialted.

Yeah, that pretty much covers it. But in all honesty, I find it's easier to yank the engine and trans together as one. Once you're done fighting the trans down and back up, you may understand why it's easier (and much less time consuming) to disassemble/reassemble the trans to the engine when it's resting on the open floor.

Fly wheel= manual transmission. Flex plate=automatic transmission.

I usually put blocks under the engine pan to support it from dropping too far and damaging the distributor cap. Make the block something large enough to spread the load, like a 6"x6" or something close to that size. I also pull the cap if there's any doubt, but not the distributor.
