Any one here done the swap? i figure there way cheeper and easier to find then a bbc and they make a hell of a lot more power in stock form. Its either that or im pulling my 455 out of my riviera and putting it in my 67.

Any way let me know if you know of any one or you did this swap your self

I wish I could be more specific than 'sometime in 2001, maybe the summer' but I once read in 'Hotrod' or Car Craft where this guy did it, called it Cadmaro. It was a cover story I think.

the 455 buick would be and is a good swap as it is lighter than the 472/500. suposedly the 455 with aalloy intake weighs in at something like50 lbs more than a small block chevy with cast iron intake....not sure if the oil filter will clear up front....interesting idea....

Or Sell the 455 riv and buy a BBC....

now the killer would be to take the front drive unit anda 500 caddy out of the eldorado and stuff it under a 69 camaro...front wheel drive tire fryer...

The Buicks and Caddys can make good power but don't try to wind them up like a big block Chevy. The Caddy tries to break the rocker stands at over 5000 RPM and the Buick run out air at that speed. They do make big torque and are very good street engines if not pushed too hard.

the caddy motor is the one that is lighter then the buick. i have a 455 in my daily driver and have had a full on race 455. and ive reved stock 455's to 7800 daily. i would rev them higher then a bbc any day. there allmost square (bore stroke wise). but they are not light. the main problem with them is oiling. there oil pump sucks and they have a weak block. but with a after market block girdle from ta performance and a hi flow pump conversion there bad *** motors.

Ive only played with 390 caddys really but have helped with a few 472/500 swaps and there is big clearence issueswith the oil filter housing and the fact that rear sump pans are harder to come by and when you do find them there not cheap.
