Help, trying to agree on price / value of 70 1/2 vs 71 Camaros Z28 RS
Hi, I am buying a "1970 1/2 True Z28 RS" from a friend. Challenge I have is that I only have a few pictures. I just got the Vin from him: 124871L517580. When i decode that it shows it as a 71 (sixth digit indicates year of the car; 1=71, 0=70)..Obviosl the engine / HP changed a lot from 70 to71...It does have the "split bumper" like I see in the 70 photos...And the car is 500 miles away from where I liver\...I have to drive over and either drive it back or trailer it. He said it is a true survivor with original paint, no dents, etc...needs only 2 minor parts to be all original...Can you guys help me determine if this is truly the 1970 1/2 or a 71? Or what else should I ask for to determine value, etc. to agree on price with him. any other suggestions? I have a 66 Corvette, and a 67 Nova, but this is my first Camaro....

No such thing as a "1970 1/2" model. The media made that up and used it at the time, because of the late release of the 70 model. Nor were any 1970 models ever titled as a 1970 1/2. But, people still mistakenly use that reference today. Pass that on to your friend who has a "true" one!
However, according to the VIN, the 6th digit (1) means the car is a 1971 (with no fractions).
