That's a tough deal. If you think it is still in state you might be able to find out the number of licensed 68 Camaro's from the DOT or something, but thats not gonna be easy not only do the the sheer number of cars but the fact that a lot of people, me being one of them, don't inspect their older cars anyway. But I think a lot of it depends on how hard you are willing to look. You could always call the number of the guy who you sold the car to and find out who he sold it to and so on, that would be the easiest but I've guessed you have already tryed that.

 

Depending on what state you are from, dealers can search for the car. In Minnesota, if a dealer has the plate number or VIN he can search for registered owner. Good luck on your search!

Yes I still have the VIN. I have the original owners manual, service book, and the Protec-O-Plate, with the plastic case. The VIN is 124378L314646.
