Default Help!!!

So I'm now in California and I didn't want to drive over here so I came over here on the airplane... I know it's not the best idea but I'm going to drive the my 79 camaro back to Texas and I wanted to know what should I replace to make sure I get to Texas...lol. The engine is in pretty great condition but I need to find out what parts are possible to break down on a long trip??? Thanks for any advice!!!!

I would tune it up first. Change the fluids, and repack the wheel bearings. Brakes at least the fluid.

The I would toss a set of belts a fuel filter or two, some rtv, a role of electrical tape, duct tape, and every tool I could fit in the trunk. And a spare tire.

I'm sure others will chime in with stuff I forgot. The fuel filters are because your gonna start stirring up crap in the tank.

maybe some distilled water and coolant?
Snacks for sure and an awesome cd/tape with the song american woman on it so when you get to a stop light...you can really play the part.

everything they said, plus oil and tranny fluid.

I wouldn't push it, take the back roads not the major highway and try to stay in towns until you know it is going to make it.

Also, get AAA before you leave.

Don't forget to check the radiator hoses! Replace them if they're not fairly new! Check the heater hoses too for any signs of bad spots!

Road trip check list : oil change, fuel filter change, air filter (clean or change), Radiator flush and coolant change (do it yourself with a garden hose, nothing fancy here) Check tire (visual inspection, air pressure and as dumb as it sounds check your lug nuts for tightness), Id bring a can of fix a flat stuff just in case, check tranny fluid, change belts and spark plugs if you have time. Then just a general inspection and bolt check. All in all not terribly expensive and shouldn't take more then a couple hours. Goodluck on your trip !

Only if there's a reason. Has it been leaking, or dribbling at all? If so, then change it.
