Default Heater core replacement

I just picked up a '67 and the heater core needs replacing. Upon first glance it appears that the front fender needs to be removed to get to the heater housing. Is that true, or is there a way to remove the firewall housing with the passenger side fender on?

Thanks!

it's a PITA but it can be done. what I try to do is support the heaterbox under the hood so it doesn't fall forward while I'm under the dash.
