I'm too tight to pay for much labor. Even if it takes me all day to do what a shop can do in a couple hours, I'll still do it to save a buck and learn. I think if I was a rich guy, I'd still try to save $5 by doing it myself. Just can't get shed of that mindset of do it yourself thinking.

I'm just the opposite haha,if i could afford it,i would have someone else do every bit of work i have needed done, but since i dont have the money to cover labor on most things,i am forced to learn and do it myself.

Hey guys alright so my headers are installed now but now I can't get the bracket that goes on the power steering and a/c back on it won't fit so now I can't turn as easily!!! I don't have the a/c hooked on so is there a bracket I can use that will fit even if it doesn't have the part for the a/c????

The piece should have came with the headers. If not measure the gap, from memory I'm thinking 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" then go pick up a 1/4" NPT pipe nipple that length from Lowes or where ever.

Yeah, thats what i did when i first installed my headers and it worked out perfect, and it's very cheap, only cost like $1 or so.Another option, which is alot more expensive,if your not going to hook your a/c back up,is to get a march power steering bracket,i just put one on last summer and they look great and mount to the block and water pump so the headers dont affect it,but they are a bit over $100.

Get the nipple, fix the problem and let us know how it worked.

It is a spacer between the header and the bracket. You'll need a longer bolt too. Oh yeah, we're talking about the first header bolt.

Just hold the bracket up where it clears the front tube, then measure the distance to the header flange and cut a spacer from the pipe nipple. Then get a bolt with that much extra length on it to put it all together.
Or if this is too complicated you could spend some money and get a universal chrome bracket and base from Summit for about $12. That's what I used for my gasser:
