Default Harmonic balancer trouble

Anyone ever have a balancer that would not go on all the way? I broke two installation tools trying to get this thing to seat. Its the same balancer I had on my old motor so I figure I should slip right on. They all have the same snout right?

Did you check to see if the key had moved in the keyway? If it moved back, then it might be up on the raised portion of the crank and jamming the dampener. I'd oull it back off and check the key, plus the keyway, and the depth before trying it again.

Yeah I agree, might clean things up real well too,a little fine polishing on the crank end might help too but I'd bet the key is moving.
Is the new motor the same size motor, there are a couple different balancers.

The new motor is a 383 but its internal balanced. The old one was a 350. I thought about the keys last night too. It will be awile before I can go out there and fix it though. At least I got my clutch installed.I been off for 2 months. I go back on third tonight

That should work.
