You'll still need to cut the leaf perches and re-weld them more than likely. How long is it from mounting flange to mounting flange? I think the second gen camaro is looking for 55 and 1/2 inches for a stock fit and 45 and 1/2 inches from the center of the spring mounts to each other.

You would need a new carrier and depending on the shape of the ring and pinion you might need some new gears. If you're changing out the carrier make sure you get someone who knows what they're doing. More than likely it would be an easy swap but you never know with aftermarket parts. The mounting lip might be thinner or thicker than the stock one so it might put the ring gear deeper or shallower into the pinion. That will make it to where it needs to be reshimmed. These tolerances are very, very tight and not noticeable to the naked eye very easily. You're usually talking about .010 to .006 of an inch for backlash with around .008 being about right. Just think about how small that is and if you could see that type of movement and determine if it's correct with your naked eye. You're talking about four THOUSANDTHS of an inch of movement with narrowing it down to within two THOUSANDTHS of an inch. You usually have to use a dial indicator to determine backlash and pinion depth.

As far as that holding up? There's no telling imho. Depends on how abused it was, what it's gone through in its life and how well it was assembled. If you're going for budget used parts then you're always taking a chance in my opinion. Just like racing you'll win on some and lose on some. You can use it till something breaks and then use that as a reason to upgrade.

Oh, and it's 55.25 inches from mounting flange to mounting flange and 45 and 3/8th's inches from between centerlines of spring seats. I was close but just a tad bit off.
