Default Engine Power on 1970 RS

Hey guys heres the thing, i have a 1970 camaro rs that i was originally planning to put a 383.....425hp engine in. But i have been talkin to people around that i know that said that would be a very bad idea due to how the maro doesn't have a frame and it is all connected together by sheet metal(stock). Which would be bad because the frame will twist on fast acceleration and also overtime and it would be very bad lol. So, what i thought is instead of basically rebuilding the whole car to fit the hp the thing puts out i would just put a beefed up 350 in it and leave it at that.

Was wonderin what u guys think i should do.

Thanks

if you are planning on dropping that 383 in it subframe connectors, and roll bar. I have 450 hp bigblock with 500 lb of torque. Has long as you build the rest of the car to handle the power the front subframe is find the rear is leaf so you should be good. Just need to support the center of the car. Also look into your floors and rinner/outer rockers if these are weak this will be your biggest problem to deal with. But the hp you are looking at is nothing hugh, but a small weak spot and yes over time you will have body twist. Try having everything professional weld in (i.e. subframe braces, roll bar, if you can find them a x-brace would be great ). All of these will make your camaro last alot longer and ride much better. Best of luck!

It's fairly easy and cheap to put in some sub-frame connectors, if you're concerned about it. I wouldn't let structural problems stop you from doing what you want. If you've got the money to build that motor, I'm sure you'd have an extra $100 to put into the frame. There are plenty of ways to reinforce your car. You could even put in a roll-cage.

Ya i wouldnt really worry about twisting youre frame with a 383 {street} motor its only going to be hitting 375 give ot take hp to the rear wheels so if youre gonna be putting slicks on it so the hp catches the pave ment then ya reinforce but im am putting a 502zz sprayed with nos which reaches 650hp with about the same torgue.and mine is a 72 i got bolt on subframe and welding those in instead of cutting up my floor board.....and i put a little roll bar in ..I hope this helps you my uncle has a 475 hp 383 stroker in his with nothing extra in it so i think your gonna be fine with subframes just get them welded in... hope this helps have a good one ron
