Emblem help
Ok I'm new to this forum and this is my second classic Camaro.
I just bought a 69 Conv.
My question is the all the emblems have been taken off, on the panel on the back between the tail lights where the Bow tie goes the are some holes that have welded up the holes are offset one high one low. Are all the emblems this same configuration or what emblem was on the back. I ran the # on the car and its a orignal V-8 4-speed car but not sure on the model...one of the tags on the firewall is missing.
thanks for any help

If you have the real VIN you should be able to decode it. I have a website on my home computer (i'm at work now) that has the VIN decoder. That should tell you all of this info, I might have forgotten one or two
Year of car
Plant manufactured
How many Doors
what model (z28, RS, etc...)
what number in the production line yours was
the trim codes (interior colors)
I'll log on at some point later tonight and add it to this post. Hopefully you'll get all the info you'll need. Any other questions, let me know
P.S. - i'll also try to find you a emblem site to order the emblems so when you find out you can order the emblems

OK thanks I have run the Plate on the firewall and everything matches except the cant find out if the car was a base model and, paint color for the # on the paint I know the car is blue behind the back seat. Just woundering if the car is a base model or had Extras on it......
Decoding as suggested is the right answer. The car could've been hit at some point or had rust repairs (not saying it has had either in your case) and a donor panel may have been used sometime along the way. In those cases, things like "emblem holes", etc. may not be the best guide. Also would add that Classic Industries usually has all the emblems, although there certainly may be better "deals" out there.
no not all have the same mounting holes. and the vin and cowl tags wont tell you if its a SS,Z/28,RS or plaine jane. some might have a Z/28 on the cowl tag but not all of them.
here are a few sites to check all the numbers that you can find on the car and motor to help narrow down what you might have
http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm
http://www.nastyz28.com/sbchevy/sblock.html#camaro
http://www.camaros.org/index.shtml
http://www.chevy-camaro.com/
look at the motor for the numbers on the block, that will tell what size it was
hope this will help
