Do you believe this is a good start to a restoration?
Hi , I am looking at trading my car for this 1980 with a 454 and th350 trans.
The owner tells me that the car has no rust, needs a new windshield, needs new weatherstripping, and a needs a interior restoration. But the rest is complete.
I'm in Seattle so the interior restoration is no problem as I don't wanna get in a spotless car wet everyday. It'll be nice as I'll have a car that looks beautiful but I don't have to worry about the seats getting wet, then after this winter California it is, then I will restore it there.
For now, I drive less than a mile a day and wanna know if this looks like it can handle that. I'm not sure if the engine pictures had been from restoration or if he has set it up further. I don't know much about these cars. I know that it was recently restored by a older man that seems very respectable. He is on a fixed income and ran out of cash to do the interior, but like me didn't need it finished.
Does she look like a good start?

Looks like it is a nice car, keep in mind though,if moving to California, they have some of the worst emmison laws in the country,so you may have a hard time registering it there being it is not the factory stock motor, and doesn't look like it has the emmisions equipment on it.

I guess it depends on how it runs, or if the engine is in the unfinished state we see in those pics. I also agree with B&M that Ca. is tough on smog testing for newer cars from 70's forward, so you may have to add a lot of smog equipment to make it Ca. legal.
It also depends on how much the seller is asking.

Give it some time, and WV will be forced to smog test by the Feds too!

In California, vehicles 1975 and older are exempt. Your car will have to conform to 1980 smog regulations (how it came smog equipped from the factory).
