Just wondering if someone can let me know what this part is below that I have attached as an image. The small cylinder in the middle is the part I need. The wire is the tach wire that runs from the distributor into the car. The wires were pulled when taking engine out and figure it’s easier to just buy a new part then try to sodder the wires back onto it, but could someone explain to me what that little cylinder part is or does? It was bolted onto the firewall, Thanks:

 

Looks like some kind of resistor, what type of distributer are we working on?
