decisions...decisions...need help deciding
so if you have read any of my other things you know i have a 1980 z28.... well my friends just gave me a free 1980camaro, not a z.
my z28 is pretty rough, the floors and trunk is pretty rust out. trunk is gone. floors aren't the worst I've seen but i have the pans to replace them, just haven't don't it yet. rear lower quarter panel has a rust hole about the size of my fist and my driver door on the bottom just recently formed a rust hole about 2inches long and about 1/2 an inch wide.
the car that was given to me is really solid no rust what so ever. it has no interior and no front clip. i was originally going to just cut out the trunk pan and take the trunk lid. then some other random pieces.
my z doesn't have the original motor or tranny. the main reason i don't wanna use the other car is because my z28 has t-tops.
what car do you guys think i should use?
which one would be the best investment in the long run?
the z28 or the non-z28??

Well if you like T tops then it's not a question; use the T top car. If you want the least amount of work, then use the non Z28 car. I'm no fan of T tops, as I like solid roofs, and no hassles from leaks. Plus the solid top cars can stand more hot engines without twisting as easily. Don't get me wrong, a T top cars can and are being used to drag race in fast cars, but they are well braced and have a lot of work done to hold the power.
You can swap all the components from the Z28 to the std. car, and end up with a clone that's less work. Just depends on whether you want the T tops enough to perform all the repairs it needs. You might consider selling both cars, and just finding a nicer T top car to start out with.
