Crunch time. Need Help with a Decision.
I've just found a 2001T/A WS6 with about 46,000 miles and very clean throughout for about $16,500. With the loan that's available and what I still owe on my truck my car payment would be around 425 a month. I'm still in college and only working part time, while I could manage this payment it would stretch me a lot thinner than I would really like. Right now I'm contemplating selling my 78 Z28 but I'm not sure if I can bring myself to do it. I'm just wondering if you guys think I would have as much fun a hopped up LS1 or an old school pony car. Just looking for any advice or insight you guys can provide.
On a side note, I wouldn't even be considering this unless my Ram wasn't showing signs of transmission failure. I'm going to need an everyday driver but I don't like the looks of the Chevy trucks, won't even think of touching a Ford or a Jap truck, and don't want some piddley *** grocery getter for an everyday driver.

CON,
I had a 2000 LS1 modified formula. Something to think about is they are great in stock or mildly modified but the parts for them are alot more expensive. Ls1's are great cars (Camaro's, corvette's firebird's) and you can get them insanely fast if you wanna pay for it. When you first get into the LS1 its great alot of pwer and fun to drive but soon you will find that it feels slow and you'll want to modify it to get alittle more. Next thing you know you have a whole lot of money tied up and warranties if any are voided and its still a newer car. But I do understand the desire to own a new daily driver.I guess it depends on the amount of miles you are driving everyday. If it was meI would hold onto your 78 if at all possible. You will be thankful in a few years when you still have it and you have other daily driver. I know alot of guys who go out and buy Saturns or some other little car for the cheap prices and the gas. but on the weekends they jump into their old muscle cars and cruise. Just imagine how fast that old muscle car would feel after you get out of a 4 or 6 cylinder getting 30mpg. And after saving all the money in gas though out the week and the cheaper car payment you canhave everything.

I see your point and I do appreciate it. However, after driving my Ram I can't stand to have some ****ty little compact that's stuggling to get off of the line. Hell, I'm so damn confused, I'll probably just end up flipping a coin. Thanks for the input.

If you want to make the decision with your head, you'll get the old Saturn or something to get you around during the week and then enjoy your toy on the weekend or real nice days.
If you want to make the decision with your crotch, keep throwing your very little college student money into something that will really "get you off the line" on your way to school and back.

Just say no man wait untill you have a full time job. A ws6 is a great car but it does you no good when you have to pick puting gas in it and starving yourself. [&:]ahh the down side to the V8
